Apple has so far announced a new iMac with integrated iSight. This is the thinnest iMac to date with an integrated 640x480 camera and uses core video to add effects and such to real time recording. They have also announced Photobooth and Frontrow software. Photobooth is professional photo management software and frontrow is a maintainance utility for your Mac. Both will work with iLife.
Front Row - which comes with all new iMacs - gives people a new way to enjoy your music, video and pictures from the sofa - with an iPod style remote control. It still uses the iMac's screen, but text is big and control is simple, so you don't have to be hunched up in front of the screen. He's comparing the simple, small remote for Front Row with the bloated remotes from Microsoft Media Center - Apple's 6 buttons compared to Media Center's 40-plus.

Byron, I don't understand why you pimp iMac's on ActiveWin when they are crappy value.
But lots of people are ignoring you:
"Sales of Media Center PCs have skyrocketed since July 9, according to a recent study by Current Analysis. For the week ending August 20, 2005, Media Center PCs accounted for 43% of all desktop personal computers sold in the U.S. retail market, based on data from a sampling of U.S. retailers.
Accounting for this phenomenon was a decline in pricing for Media Center systems, with the average price dropping below $900 for the first time ever. In addition to the more affordable price points, Microsoft has lead the charge to promote Media Center PCs at select retailers in an attempt to generate a higher level of interest for the platform.
Senior Director of Research, Matt Sargent states “The desktop market is in dire need of anything that will differentiate it from laptops, which have been stealing sales over the last year. Media Center, with its focus on performance-centric tasks, such as manipulating pictures, video and audio content, is one key differentiator. The continued success of the desktop form factor is reliant upon the success of Media Center--this is the reason we are seeing leading manufacturers such as HP rapidly shift their desktop offerings to Media Center.”

This is too funny (and another example of the missuse of "bloated"). The MCE remote is not bloated -- it offers a heck of a lot more functionality.
One Example -- MCE remotes have a number keypad that allows for direct channel changes, text entry, chapter changes, games control, etc.
If the iMac ever gains the functionality of an MCE, it'll likely gain a similar "bloated" remote.

n4cer--I was thinking the exact same thing. You know, it's kind of nice to be able to enter the channel directly, rather than going to the menu or flipping through one-by-one. Of course, Apple doesn't have that functionality yet. And they've never been one for functionality over aesthetics.

#6,
I have to admit, it's like a Camry driver telling someone their Caddillac is "Bloated" because it's bigger and has more gadgets :)

People do misuse the word bloat very badly.
Bloat, in software, would require that the UI for the provided features is poorly designed and clunky, it takes up more resources than it should, et...
