Allard: I thought of Revolution controller first | |

Xbox corporate VP J Allard has criticised Nintendo's "freestyle" Revolution controller, claiming that he had a similar idea which was rejected after consultation with gamers and developers. Speaking to US website Gameinformer, Allard said the controller was "Well intentioned" but argued that he couldn't see it being used to play sports or racing games. "I don't think most Electronic Arts games are going to be played with that thing, I think they're going to be designed for the classic controller," he added. "Four years ago I wrote an email treaty and said, 'Why aren't accelerometers in remote controls? Why can't I scroll down my channel guide with a gesture instead of up, up, up, up?"" Allard revealed. | ||

| Allard both criticised and praised Nintendo in that article - it just seems like he wanted to say "me too"! Anyways, I haven't been keeping up with the latest on the PS3, xbox360 or the revolution so thanks ActiveWin for adding this story it made me go and find some pics and videos of this controller. It looks like the original NES controller when held flat but thinner so you can use it as a remote control and from the videos it looks like a lot of fun to play with! Can't wait to try it out! |

Controller looks really cool.
I have really missed games that used the light gun and such. |

| #2 If they manage to pull this off successfully it could prove to be a real winner. I haven't really given it a lot of though but take a look at the most popular games in video arcades - the vast majority (with only a few exceptions) are all games where you dance or hit things or shoot things or drive or otherwise steer some craft etc. There are less and less pure joystick and buttons type of games. And games like Golf will actually be fun to play this way... so yeah, definitely can't wait to give it a go - have to feed the inner child! |
