Firefox gained one percentage point of market share in five months, compared to the one-point-per-month gains after its release a year ago. Firefox's once-strong surge against Microsoft Internet Explorer is showing signs of losing momentum, a Web metrics firm said Wednesday. San Diego-based WebSideStory released market share numbers for Firefox, IE, and other browsers that noted Firefox has crept up from April's 6.75 percent to September's 7.86 percent, a single percentage point gain in five months. During the first few months after its November, 2004, release, Firefox was adding another point each month. | ||

| This is great news and the beginning of the end for FireFox. When IE7 arrives it will be the end of Firefox, and its market share will fall to the 3-4% range. Another open source failure. |

| #4 - just a shame you seem to have forgotten that without Firefox you wouldn't have seen IE 7, MS were redundent of ideas until Firefox came out. |

hey i'll still be using firefox.
i hate to sound selfish but, the fact that firefox doesn’t get any more popular means that no one will bother to write viruses and pop-ups for it. so what gives with the anti-firefox rhetoric. do all you boys all work for MS and just hate to see that someone can code better than you? competition and innovation are good things. just so you know… these two things are inseparable like siamese twins joined at the head. |

#5: true, without real competition for so long, MS had nobody's ideas to copy.
#7: you must be new here. This place is chock-full of Microdroids. If it isn't from MS it's no good, no matter what. Get used to it. I used to wonder if MS paid thousands of people to evangelize on every webboard around, but I came to the conclusion that they're just misguided. They think that if they align themselves with the most powerful entity in a given arena, they somehow validate their self-worth. Sort of like sycophantic yes-men that kiss up to the boss. |

PC World really has it wrong. Firefox should be the worst product of the year.
Firefox is just a dumbed down version ot the Mozilla suite. Made for the users who dont know anything about computers. |

In the last 53 days at my web site the browser stats are as follows:
1) MSIE 6.0 14,779 2) Firefox 1.0 977 3) Mozilla 5.0 832 4) Netscape 7.2 122 5) Opera 7.54 87 This is obvious proof that the Firefox stats are absurdly overinflated. I personally tried FF and did not like it. Not only was it the same speed as IE, if not slower, but I also came across numerous web pages that would not load correctly. |

#4 -- I have tried IE7 and I will stick with Firefox -- I would even rather use IE6 over IE7. It is not all that great.
