As you might expect, Starter Edition is the most constrained. This Vista version will support 1 32-bit microprocessor and up to 256 MB of RAM. Also the screen resolution will be limited to 1024 x 768 (up from 800 x 600 in XP Starter Edition). The other editions--Home Basic, Home Premium, Home N, Professional, Professional N, Small Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate Editions--will ship in both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) versions (or will support both architectures). All of the home-oriented editions will support 1 processor, while the business-oriented editions (and Ultimate Edition) will support 2. | ||

That's way too many versions. There should only be: Windows Vista (32-bit) Windows Vista (64-bit) Windows Vista N (32-bit) Windows Vista N (64-bit) Other than that, MS has begun the process of screwing things up again.... |

I have to agree.. I know people (aka competators) begged for 32 different flavors.. but this is insane.
Anything more then 3-4 variations and it's going to cause problems. (excluding 32vs64) Starter? - whatever (stipped down the bare basics) Home - (standard pacakge, full networking,perhaps without some of the included media apps 1x proc) Media - (I dont even think this should exist.. but whatever same as home with some spiffy ms media apps 2xproc) Pro - (same as home, different defaults, limited version of iis7,etc, 2xproc) Server (web-2x) Server (std-4x) Server (ent-16x) Server (datacenter) Dont get into this home lite, home pro, home ultimate crap, it will cause more confusion for those using the os, as well as those trying to support the os. |
