IF you use a pirated Windows Operating System and download new updates and drivers from the Microsoft download centre, you may be in for a surprise from July 26. In a global initiative aimed at nudging users to shift to genuine Windows software, Microsoft will kick off its Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) program from July 26. | ||

| This announcement probably isn't a surprise to anyone. In fact, MS is likely to begin installing warnings onto PCs with illegal copies of Windows XP when the users try to update. The warning might be: "in X number of days your copy of Windows will not boot fully unless you install a legal product key". |
