IN WHAT may be a last-ditch effort to resurrect the flagging profile of its video games machine in Japan, Microsoft is preparing a "stealth attack" on six-year-old schoolchildren. Later this week, the American software giant will begin to give out free versions of its Xbox home video games console to about 70 primary and junior-high schools in the Suginami-ku suburb of Tokyo. The idea behind the donations, Microsoft says, is to instil computer literacy at an early age. | ||

| Maybe I'm old fashioned by wouldn't a Pocket PC have gone a long way to promote computer literacy? This bogus marketing of "computer literacy" with an Xbox isn't quite right. They're just moving out old Xbox stock and taking a tax write off. No literacy needed to figure that one out. |

| #3 The kids wouldn't be anywhere near as excited with a Pocket PC though :) I've just bought one myself so I should have it tomorrow to play with. |
