How hard can it be? The actual operating system will be a piece of cake; it's all those applications and device drivers that will prove troublesome. In the hubbub over Apple's anticipated move from IBM to Intel chips, much has been said about how difficult the move would be. But really, how hard can it be to port Mac OS X to the Intel platform when its core operating system already runs on x86 chips? | ||

Ok, I'm back. I firmly believe apple has been preparing for this for years, and in a Lab somewhere in Cupertino it's already up and running. And I'm not talking about Darwin. I'm talking about true MacOS X running on Intel. TL |

| I just wonder if all the buzz about Apple and Intel may really be over an XScale processor for an iPod or something non-Mac-related like that. Can't wait to see how this plays out.... |

Intel processors provide more performance per watt than PowerPC processors do, said Jobs. “When we look at future roadmaps, mid-2006 and beyond, we see PoweRPC gives us 15 units of performance per watt, but Intel’s roadmap gives us 70. And so this tells us what we have to do,” he explained.
