Microsoft takes tabs from browser rivals | |

Microsoft is adding tabbing functionality, a feature popularly found in rival Firefox and Opera web browsers, to Internet Explorer 7.0, the company's developers confirmed yesterday. "Yes, IE7 has tabs," a developer wrote in a Microsoft-sanctioned blog. "The tabbed browsing experience in the upcoming IE7 beta is pretty basic. Expect additional end-user functionality to come in after the beta." IE 6.0 and previous versions require a new window to be opened if the user wants to have more than one page open at the same time, whereas competing browsers have tabs, so many pages can be opened in the same window, reducing clutter and aiding navigation. | ||

| It is not only not necessary, it is quite annoying. As long as it is very easily turn-off-able, I don't care about it being in IE7 though. |

I used tabs with IE 4 or 5 years ago via Broadpage. I eventually went back to vanilla IE because tabbed browsing isn't that great. I tried it again with Maxthon, but I eventually went back to vanilla IE.
Its been around a long time in the windows world, available to anyone who wants it. |

Tabs are not some breakthrough invention.
Which will make it all the funnier when Gates comes on to tell us all how MS innovates again with the release of IE7. |

#5, Thanks, csmac....That was hilarious...I nearly wet myself...."about as exciting as pull cords on drapes..." We needed that - thanks!
I'll take an ALT-Tab any day over them pesky and frankly, "ugly" tabs in the browser. They look like a mule's fourth point of contact! |

| ch, i really enjoy MS products and I could care less if IE7 has tabs or not. |
