RealNetworks cries foul over Microsoft antitrust case | |

Microsoft has been accused of dragging its feet over the introduction of a version of Windows that doesn't include Media Player RealNetworks has criticised Microsoft for failing to provide a fully functional version of Windows that is unbundled from its media player, twelve months after the European Commission (EC) ruled that Microsoft was stifling competition in the market for media player software. Back in March 2004 the EC had demanded that Microsoft produce a new version of its operating system that is not bundled with Windows Media Player and that this version must not be made "less attractive" to PC manufacturers through any commercial, technological or contractual terms. | ||

#1, Because people and companies that cannot fairly compete in the marketplace often resort to the courts to secure success.
Boutique trial lawyers and states' attorneys pick up the ride for publicity - to get re-elected, or fees. It's not unlike an able-bodied man seeking SSI for cronic hangnails instead of working for a living. Each does two things...1) they make it in life figuring out how to get other people to pay for what they want and 2) they shape the body politic as best they can with officials willing to buy their votes with your, mine and others' money. I mean look at it...Longhorn isn't even a product for sale/license, yet already officials and their legal representation are preparing cases against MS... |

This is BS. Real Networks' product is crap. Yet, the so-called "Competition Board" at the EU is listening to them.
Our government needs to step in and tell the EU to knock it off. The EU is out of control. Microsoft's appeals have not fully been heard in the EU case and the EU is ready to impose outrageous new fines on them besides already stealing more than half billion dollars from Microsoft. |
