The first beta of IE 7.0 isn't expected for a few more months. But information on Microsoft's security, standards and interface plans are trickling out now. Since it first revealed a month ago that it was pulling a U-turn by releasing a new version of Internet Explorer independent of Longhorn, Microsoft has been unwilling to share many particulars about its forthcoming browser. Will Internet Explorer (IE) 7.0 have tabs? Will it comply with the Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) 2.0 standard? Exactly how will it make browsing more secure? Will it ship in 2005? | ||

Of course, Parker began predicting the 5 year demise of Apple (I'm sorry "desktop computing from Apple".. and now apparently, it's "OS X" that will die...) back in 2002... Since he knows that's not going to happen, he's now changed it to 2010! Why bother, Parker? You never took the bet and no one EVER believed you knew what you were talking about... You wouldn't lose anything by continuing to insist 2007! It's just as stupid as 2010!! (2010 is probably even more stupid since your predictions continue to slide with the passage of time.) | Well, with the addition of tabs to IE I will definately take another look at IE. I'm a current Firefox user who's tired of having to load another browser to access MS sites. That said, IE is going to have to be truly impressive to win me back. |

I am not censoring name calling. Only if it contains explicit words will I nullify the statement. Moron is not explicit in our rule book. The F word is indeed explicit. AWIN 3.0 will have the filter built in so to be sure most get censored amongst all posters. Chris...you are posting inaccuracies. AW (which includes me) would not tolerate Parkker, LinuxIsTheft, myself, you, TechLarry or whomever to post explicit words. If this is how you judge things then that's fine. Note that currently the statement "F&^k that was a good beer" will be censored whereas "Parkker is a complete and utter moron" will not - and it's not too hard to figure out which is worse. So whilst moron may not be on the "list", perhaps it should be flagged - there's other ways of getting you point across without resorting to name calling like that. "If you think I have censored with a bias" Please don't get me wrong on this - I don't believe that there should be any censorship, unfortunately that will just lead to Parkker acting his age more often and posting nothing but obsenities. I just found it interesting as to what actually triggered a post to be censored given some of the comments that we have seen recently. |

Totally off topic here...well, may be not...
I used to wonder why business people were so jaded about technology and why it was so hard at first to gain their full trust....while we pretty quickly do, I can understand their posture - given the nature of some of the comments I read here. It's sad - ok, very sad that discourse gives way to sophmoric jabs so quickly. Whatever happened to simply debating based upon the science and what one has seen in the field? The facts are that competition is always good, and I think, despite what many assert, Microsoft loves competition - especially against itself. MS aspires to do more - again, my assessment, but I think there is a great deal of evidence [not to mention product] to support it. Editorial comment; however, pitiful, compelled MS to release IE 7.x - sadly, not FF, or any competition. IE 7 seems to be a basic business decision - and a good one....and of course, user opinions opposite FF and others are observed by MS - not necessarily driven by them, but certainly observed and noted. |
