I think Firefox is the best browser on the planet, but it's not going to stay that way long unless the team behind it gets their act together sooner rather than later. I love Firefox. It is, without a doubt, my favorite browser ever, and I've used almost every one that ever rendered a Web page. No matter what the operating system—Windows, Linux, heck, even NetBSD—one of the first things I do now with any of my boxes is to install Firefox on it. | ||

| The situation is much worse than this article as it is written by a Firefox fanboy. Without the mozilla developers who are the brains behind the project and who are leaving, Firefox development will be completely stalled. Firefox is just a dumbed down version of the browser component of the Mozilla suite. |

One week in Vegas and I come back to see chicken littles claiming the Firefox sky is falling. Amazing how the great golden child of the media last month is suddenly in trouble. Of course, the MS apologists are filled with glee since one less challenger to IE is better for all of us especially those that would prefer web sites designed for the standards rather than for IE.
I guess MS will abandon their plan for IE 7 since Firefox is all washed up... whatever. |

| And one more thing, #4, I have not experienced any problems with Firefox's rendering of gamespot.com. Actually, I can't think of any site I use other than Windows Update that is unusable in Firefox. |

#8: Those of us old enough...
You give us old farts a bad name. I remember using Mosiac around 1993 to connect to the smattering of sites, mostly universities, that were accessible at the time. I think I used the gopher protocol to get to files. I still have a fondness for the 1980s days of accessing BBSs--kids today just don't know what it used to be like... <sentimental> #8: Hype and religious fervor is not a replacement for long term development. Not practicing what we preach, eh? This applies to any technology organization whether it's MS or open source. It's the reason the silly dot coms failed. |

I'm sorry. #11: I know enough about alternatives to Windows. Like I've said before, take away the mouse and most people couldn't accomplish a thing on a computer since most people were trained on Windows. It's a pity that most people don't even know about command line operations... #11: Open Source is really at its core about moving Unix to the x86 platform and hating Microsoft. And all this time I thought it was about free alternatives to commercial products... silly me. #11: Hatred of Microsoft should not define peoples lives. You should get out more. Say nice things about the things you like instead of falling for the hype and hatred of IE at the core of Firefox and open source. Hatred of Open Source should not define peoples lives. OMG, I never thought I would hear mosaic users considered "old farts". I'm barely 30 for God's sake, and I used Mosaic for at least a year. And then good old Netscape 0.9 drew my attention. Or something like that. |
