Patchers relax: Microsoft announced that it won't release any new fixes to its operating systems or applications at the next regularly scheduled date for bulletins. Patchers can relax: on Thursday Microsoft announced that it won't release any new fixes to its operating systems or applications Tuesday, the next regularly scheduled date for its monthly security bulletins. "On March 8th, 2005, the Microsoft Security Response Center is planning to release no new security bulletins," the Redmond, Wash.-based developer said on its Microsoft Security Bulletin Advance Notification Web site Thursday morning. The Thursday prior to the second Tuesday of each month, Microsoft gives users a heads-up by disclosing the number of scheduled security bulletins, and the severity level of the most critical. It's unusual for Microsoft not to release any security fixes; the last time that happened was December 2003, just months after the company instituted its monthly patching cycle. | ||

#1, What platform? - opposite Server Message Block Vulnerability (CAN-2005-0045).
What issue? It only mods the way SMB packets are validated over a NW before being passed to a buffer. If you are blocking 139 and 445 at the edge as one should, you can uninstall it. Finally, the only known issue affects Office 2000 files as they are renamed across a NW. One may copy/cut the file, work on it and save it back with a new filename to work around it. |

| Search google. Random files not appearing, in my case. Many other people are having the same problem. I don't use Office 2000. I don't use SAMBA. I don't use anything except freshly installed Windows XP SP-2 machines. I've uninstalled and blocked this patch, but obviously that is not the solution. |
