Microsoft to companies: Here comes SP2, ready or not | |

Microsoft will start delivering Service Pack 2 via its automatic update feature to companies on 12 April whether they're ready for it or not. A warning hidden away on the voluminous Microsoft website says: UPDATE: Time is running out! Please note that the mechanism to temporarily disable delivery of Windows XP SP2 is only available for a period of 240 days (8 months) from August 16, 2004. At the end of this period (after April 12, 2005), Windows XP SP2 will be delivered to all Windows XP and Windows XP Service Pack 1 systems. SP2 contains security and other upgrades to Windows XP Microsoft sees as critical. | ||

/etc/config? It's just files in /etc or subfolders under there - maybe that's why you can't get it to work ;)
Kidding... but yes, I agree with you. I've been feeling an OS rut myself. Windows XP doesn't excite me anymore, Mac OSX is just a pretty interface to an ungodly expensive proprietary architecture to do little work and Linux is buggy beyond usefulness. It's a real rut. |

| You're so right Mr Dee, I'm a system builder, always testing and playing - so I acquired open licenses on all windows stuff; it's not as much as some people think, turn a ghost and backup in no time. I think fast_math may not need a computer - abacus is on open source. After over 60 linux loads of all kinds of distros, even the best one (SUSE) ain't Windows. Love that old MAC LS. |
