Microsoft could face a new antitrust challenge in the EU over the bundling of accounting software with an upcoming version of its Office productivity suite.
UK business software vendor Sage said on Friday that it plans to raise its concerns about the bundling with the EU's regulatory and executive body, the European Commission, if the Commission does not address it on its own.
Company spokesman Ralph Charlton said that Sage would be "very surprised" if the Commission did not investigate the inclusion of Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting financial management software with an edition of Office due out late this year. The edition is designed for businesses with up to 25 employees, and offers management of sales orders and other business data.
