Let the games begin. Microsoft, with the introduction of its homegrown MSN Search, is launching a war for desktop search audience against Google, Yahoo and Ask Jeeves.
The new search application is located on the company's redesigned Web portal, MSN.com, which previously had relied on search technology from rival Yahoo.
"We're committed to continuous improvement in the speed, precision and ease of use of our search service," Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of the MSN Information Services & Merchant Platform division at Microsoft, said in a statement. "This built-from-the-ground-up version of MSN Search provides an infrastructure that enables us to rapidly innovate and give consumers precisely the information they?re looking for, no matter where it's located."
