Opinion: Ongoing oversight resulting from antitrust settlement improves chances that 'Longhorn' OS will play fair. For many years I've been saying the only way to deal with antitrust in the technology business is to get out in front of it. By the time the legal system can deal with problems the damage has been done, and the industry has moved on. It's good to see regulators may have finally learned this lesson, ahem, two decades too late. I've said many times that if regulators had taken action to preserve competition shortly after Microsoft created the Office bundle many things would have turned out differently. One suggestion at the time was to split the company into separate OS and apps businesses. It remains my contention what when such steps weren't taken that Microsoft's eventual dominance was essentially preordained. | ||

Man, this article pisses me off.
It is a sick thing to see....social engineering....for what...to allow the weak to breed? "get to the outside of the heard man...outside of the heard..." When will the world learn...not everything, or everyone was meant to survive... There is a reason we have canines...we must feed... MS won because they wanted it more...that's all there is to it. |

#13 the lowball number is closer to 500,000. An est. 250K dead Iranians, 200K Kurds killed and about 50K in random brutalities and the invasion of Kuwait (1,000 dead Kuwaitis). If you want to blame the start of the Iran-Iraq war on Saddam and count the iraq dead in the war we can add another 500K to the list. This of course gets us to 1 million dead under Saddam. This is by no means complete, we may never no exactly how many iraqis were killed by Saddam.
#15 Of course, ignoring your own charter and allowing the brutal rape and dismemberment of a people is OK. Especially if you have a vested financial interest in it continuing.
