Read: "open souce Linux operating system that rivals Unix" "We also know that choosing a browser is about more than a handful of features. Microsoft continues to make major investments in Internet Explorer." I guess they can say that now that they have re-created the IE group. FireFox rules... hopefully this will create some competition to fire up MS and IE. |

Redhat software IS available free of charge, but that doesnt mean Redhat has to provide the compiled binaries for free download. The sourcecode however IS freely available. Redhat support isn't free. No matter how many times you guys try to simplyfy and misinterpret this, doesn't change the basic facts. Oh and just becuase Open Source Software is available for free of charge one way or another doesnt mean that some companies also sell open source software or services associated with it. Giving a minimum that's clearly not the minimum? Pretty pathetic. Ignoring the FREE SOURCE CODE option, let's state the truth: Red Hat costs from $179 to $18000.
The $18,000 dollar option is for up to 25 instances for high-end mission critical systems on hardware that Microsoft's OSes do not even run on, IBM mainframes. |

#9 You just don't understand Parkker's and AWBrian's "Get The Facts", let me translate so that you'll have the facts:
1) RedHat = Linux 2) Open Source = GPL Now we know that: 1a) RedHat = $1499 to $18,000 2a) GPL = cancer Therefore: 1b) Linux isn't free 2c) Open Source = evil It's really simple to understand once you've drunk the Microsoft cool-aid. Ask Parkker and MVP Brian to show you the path. |

We've already had this discussion with Parkker in the past about whether or not Redhat = Linux or whether or not Redhat is free (in both terms) - you and him are just blind to the facts and instead keep on coming up with new reasons for why something may or may not be free. The fact is that anyone here can get Linux for free (in both terms once again) but I guess your MVP research hasn't gotten to that fact yet and more than likely never will. |

| I love it when you guys try to argue in circles. First you complain that Open Source products now cost money and that its expensive and that they changed their philosophy from Free to Pay. Then when someone points out that all of those softwares are STILL available for free of charge for those who want them (but who wants an OS without support) you ignore it completely going on marrily pretending the free option isnt available and complaining about the price. Look if you guys wouldnt feel so intimidated you wouldnt feel the constant need to take cheap shots every turn you make a that which it seems you perceive to be a threat (or no threat if we ask you directly). |

Who's argued this? You're blowing smoke up your own ass. "RedHat is way more expensive than Windows in many situations." Highly debatable. "And while they do argue that some of the source code can be downloaded, it isn't the complete distro because RedHat's product also contains proprietary applications as well. " In what way does this violate the fact that Linux is OSS, that any and all GPL code will always be freely and openly available as source code, and that any code used by Red Hat which is GPLed is freely provided by Red Hat? Answer: it doesn't. You continue to run circles around yourself, making points with no relevence or merit, except to yourself (and maybe Brian). Stop blowing smoke up your own ass. None of us are buying it, and none of us have argued with half the nonsense you've said. |
