Exploit code makes IE flaw more dangerous | |

The threat posed by a critical flaw in Internet Explorer has been ratcheted up by the release of a program designed to exploit the vulnerability, security researchers warned on Thursday. Security information provider Secunia raised the buffer overflow flaw to its highest rating in a new advisory. The vulnerability, which was made public on Tuesday, could be used to make Internet Explorer trigger a malicious program when the Microsoft browser loads a specially formatted Web page. The flaw does not affect Windows XP Service Pack 2, Secunia said. | ||

Well, at least you admit IE is insecure too. Comparing IE 6 to Firefox 0.X/1.0PR: http://secunia.com/product/11/ http://secunia.com/product/3256/ On all counts IE is much less secure. IE has more overall advisories, several extremely critical advisories (Firefox has none!), almost three times as many highly critical advories, more serious system compromising exploits, and fewer patched issues. Firefox is a good product and denial will not change that. |

Because WE feel that although Firefox has had some security problems in the past and will again have some in the future, its benefits when compared to IE outwheigh those issues. Your constant nagging isn't going to change our minds. The only thing that will change our minds is if WE feel that based on our own experience, the benefits no longer outweigh the problems. | If I have to browse the web insecurely, I'd rather browse it with software that few will target with exploits due to its relatively small user base. |

I personally like Firefox and use it for most of my daily browsing. For those sites that don't work with Firefox (mostly MS sites) I use IE. It's not a matter of security for me, it's a matter of comfort. I (and expect most of the Firefox fans here) like the "look and feel" of Firefox.
