Yes you could call it a miracle. We have finally switched the DNS from our old server to our new ones. So now our fingers are crossed thatyou will at last notice that our new server has not had one minute of downtime (apart from exchange...cough, and reboots) since we opened it over 2 1/2 months ago. The DNS change will happen for some people straight away, while others on different cable/dial up connections may take a little longer to notice the change. But, nonetheless, the transfer is on it's way. Hopefully now we can finally get down to major site improvements and new features. | ||

#10. Actually Exchange 2000 requires IIS to be installed on the server. The reason is that Exchange use the SMTP service in IIS as it's MTA. It's new to Exchange 2000, and all mail is sent via SMTP even internally between Exchange servers and message stores. I don't believe that means you have to have the WWW service or FTP service actually started, however. Just the IISADMIN and SMTP service. Haven't verified that yet. #11. Correct. Familiarity with a product does have a lot to do with how secure you can install it. That is one of the reasons why the default install should be more secure. Strangely, despite all the puffing up of chests, the default install of the majority of Unix products is highly insecure. It's something all vendors should work on. |
