Microsoft on Schedule with Monthly Patch | |

In its now regular monthly update on the first Tuesday of the month, Microsoft said in a bulletin that its Crystal Reports Web Viewer contact-management software and its DirectX software, used primarily for graphics and gaming, could fall victim to denial of service (DoS) attacks. | ||

| #1 Depends on the circumstances of the bug/exploit. If knowledge of how to perform the attack (and it's critical enough) is in the wild I think MS would break the monthly cycle to get an update ASAP. Otherwise they would just hold off until the normal scheduled time. |

| No, happyguy, that's why it's a pain in the ass... Testing a patch on a laptop with Office is a whole lot different than patching a SQL Server server or an Exchange server or an ISA server or a Domain Server or a Sharepoint server or a ... see my point yet? |

| #16 Not a feasable solution, several smaller companies don't have the resources to dedicate a server to a particular task. I think this would only increase the amount of headaches alot of people already have with Windows. |

Note to admins: Please kill that full screen E-bay ad. I'm fairly familiar with Ebay and have heard of it before, I don't need to be reminded of it via a full screen ad.
The smaller pop-ups are irritating enough in their own right, but this really takes the cake. |

#22 At work I don't have a popup blocker installed, nor am I allowed one. They are not part of the approved software for the network. So I have no choice in the matter. At home I don't experience the popups.
