Last week, in a deal confirmed publicly only now, the Canadian province of Ontario reached an agreement with Sun Microsystems of Canada to provide more than two million students with access to the company's StarOffice desktop productivity suite: the largest StarOffice 7 shipment in North America to date. | ||

| Why not load Open Office and pay no fee? There is no significant difference between the two Sun backed office suites, except that one was made free and "open source" so that Sun could try to slap Microsoft. They missed. |

I can only see a few instances where an alternative Office suite would be feasible. 1) A company currently running Office 97 looking to upgrade would be a good candidate for OpenOffice.org and 2) A home user that is not a student or teacher and is honest enough to not purchase the student and teacher edition would save a good chunk of change by using another suite.
For large enterprises that keep themselves within 1 version of the current offerings from Microsoft it just doesn't make sense to migrate right now. With the improvents/tweaks for Outlook 2003 connections to an Exchange 2003 server I think MS is going to have an easy time moving Office into organizations faster than before. |

| Star Office is prettier than OpenOffice.Org and has some additional fonts (Arial Narrow, Garamond, Palace Script and Broadway and some others). I'm not aware of any other 'major' differences. |

| Come on, guys, end this retarded contest!! You might get some more advertisers by artificially inflating your hits, but your hits were decreasing because the site was starting to suck. All of these stupid articles with Mr. Dee sure to post some completely pointless comment are just making it suck more!! |
