As long as MS can maximize profit they will. In 1997 an MS rep handed out Office 97 Professional CD's to a number of OEM's at a training session. No activation code was required. I suspect that MS’s employees handed out thousands of the CD's around the country at training sessions. Most were likely installed on multiple PC’s. Clever and often subtle marketing was done until Office was on 90% of desktop PC's. Word Perfect and Lotus were no longer a force. Now we all have to pay and can install the newer version on only two or three PC’s. MS established MS Office as the dominant product and is taking advantage of their hard fought position. Word Perfect, Lotus and others could have given their programs away also. They didn’t.
Don't think for a minute that after Windows and Office finally are on 90% of these foreign PC's that the Far East third world PC users won't be asked to pay higher prices when they want to upgrade. |

| Come on, guys, end this retarded contest!! You might get some more advertisers by artificially inflating your hits, but your hits were decreasing because the site was starting to suck.
