#4, This is a new release of VPC. Version 7. Unless they've changed something it is the full OS. However you're probably correct about the usage. I've never bought VPC with an OS Pack, I've always installed my own copy, but I think that XP Pro would come as a VPC drive image ready to use right out of the box (as compared to having to install your own OS). I would fully expect you would have to activate it like any other copy of XP.

Macs are nice. I have looked at them at the stores. I understand those hardwares are expensive these days. A friend of mine asked me to fix hers which hers was a mac. I told her that I couldn't fix macs yet because i have not experienced them yet. She took her mac to the local shop and said to her "We could fix it for a lil over $1,000." She couldn't afford it. She had to switch to PC with windows on it. She is satisfied with Windows based PC since then.

I've used VirtualPC (on both the Mac and the PC) for many years. It's the most solid emulator available. No, it's not perfect. You need a LOT of RAM for it to work effectively. But it most certainly gets the job done. TL |

I repaired/upgraded/serviced Mac's for many years at a rate of around 1000 a year, and not a one ever approached $1000. Unless it was user-damage such as a broken LCD, damaged System Board, etc... that had to be paid for out of warranty due to user abuse. TL |

She didn't have a warranty on her Mac. Which is why the shop told her the cost. But it was over now. She is satisfied with her PC now. If she did have a warranty, it shouldn't be a problem. I can't remember what was the problem she had on her Mac. Must be the motherboard or something. But I am not worrying about it anymore. Unless the shop is a rip-off on the parts or labor charges. Thanks for your concern. |
