Microsoft's legal bill 'too big' | |

Microsoft is objecting to the size of legal bills submitted by lawyers who brought an anti-trust case in California against the software giant. Microsoft told a California court that consumers could suffer if it has to pay the full $258m (£146.7m) bill. The legal costs are part of Microsoft's settlement for over-charging consumers buying its software in California. "I wouldn't have put it in if I didn't think we earned it," said Eugene Crew, the lead attorney against Microsoft. "Somebody ends up paying for this," said Microsoft attorney Robert Rosenfeld. "These large fee awards get passed on to consumers." | ||

| Don't they have a kazillion dollars in cash? why pass it on to the consumer when they could as easily use the cash they've been hoarding. |

| lawyers making work for lawyers. this is modern reality. look around, it is happening in all walks of life. its the blame game and everyone these days seems to be doing it. problem is...only the lawyers really profit. |

| Microsoft will easily absorb this fee. If MS can agree to pay Sun 1.6 Billion dollars without crying about having to pass the cost on to consumers than a quarter billion legal fee is no big deal to them. They're just whining at being charged ten times what the service was worth. Gee, that's very much like the pricing model for Windows and Office. |
