While government customers account for less than 10 percent of Microsoft's revenue, according to analyst estimates, they've caused a disproportionate share of headaches for the company over the past year. Ambitious projects to migrate government computers to Linux and other competing software, official decrees favoring open-source products and hard-nosed licensing negotiations have put government customers well ahead of private business when it comes to testing Microsoft's mettle. | ||

OH!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!! Another story about the city of Munich going over to SUSE Linux (which doens't happen to be a German company anymore - NOvell bought them out) and their 14,000 desktops. Sheesh! Even if it were true - it hasn't happened yet and there are news reports that the project is in trouble - 14,000 desktops wouldn't cover the computers needed for the K-12 county school system where I live. Big whoop.
This has got to be the most over hyped story in technology. No, wait, this is Linux - forget it - par for course! lol More BS Linux stories: It'll run on my toaster - and you can still toast bread in the other slot It'll take the desktop market in 3 years - get out of the way of the stampede It has taken the embedded market already@$#!@# It is swallowing the server market As they say in Texas, "big hat; no cattle." So, its back to taking on the desktop market (the toaster is . . . well burned out). And so it goes . . . another day; another BS Linux story. Meanwhile, Microsoft posts record quarterly earnings of $10.5 billion. |
