Microsoft takes spam seriously. Not only does the newly released version of Outlook -- part of the company's new Office System 2003 upgrade for the ubiquitous suite of Office desktop productivity tools -- contain a remarkably effective in-computer spam filter, but now it has joined forces with New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer in a lawsuit against one of the world's top spamming operations. The company has been investigating spam operators for the last six months, according to sources, and recently announced that it was a plaintiff in six anti-spam lawsuits against operators that may be responsible for as much as 90 per cent of the spam tide ordinary users will have seen in recent months. | ||

Outlook 2003's Spam Filter is _certainly_ better.
It is not, however, a learning Spam Filter, such as those based on Bayesian technology (IMHO the only thing that truly works). Yes, you can add senders to the spam list, but we all know how totally useless that is. Better, yes. Good enough? Not really. TL |
