Yeah, pay it all out in dividends, then not have the money to cover the several billion in private patent suits, private anti-trust suits, and the EU anti-trust suit. There are more than 100 lawsuits pending against Microsoft. If things go badly, Microsoft needs the money to cover the settlement/judgement.
Throughout its history, it has been a very conservative company. I think they should continue their conservative approach. It has served them very well so far. By extension, in the long term, it serves their investors very well too. |

In reality, all the doings of the company are a concern to the investor. Period.
It's my business how the business units are divided. It's my business how much the executives make. It's my business whether they have a wise business plan (which of course include risk management - law suits, etc.). A wise investor will be aware of and demand to know these things. I don't know what kind of research you do when you are investing, but I'm glad you aren't managing my investments. |
