A former Microsoft employee has been sentenced to 17 months in prison for ordering software meant for corporate use and selling it for personal gain, local authorities say. John McKay, United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington, said in a statement on Tuesday that Kori Robin Brown, 31, ordered more than $6 million (3.5 million pounds) worth of database software that was sold to other parties. Because the products were sent via mail, Brown was convicted of mail fraud. | ||

LOL! Parker's still a little bit hypersensitive about Bush it seems. :) But since he's a masochist and brought up politics, let's go...

n4cer - Good question. I guess I'd normally go with the literal definition.
parker - Where was Bush when Enron was manipulating the California energy markets in 2001? You claimed that Bush was prosecuting Enron, but yet in 2001 he was ignoring their crimes even when they'd become very public. Being AWOL when the nation really needs the guy seems to be a common thing for this President... BTW, you are aware, I hope, that President Bush routinely invites people who have contributed large sums of money to his campaign to stay in the Lincoln Bedroom. Frankly that doesn't bother me. It didn't bother me when Clinton was in office either, because it's a gesture that doesn't hurt me as a taxpayer. But the thing which Bush does that really does bother me is what we like to call crony-capitalism, is handing out massive Pork to contributors. Hundreds of billions of dollars in fact have come out of the Federal treasury solely to pay out favors to Bush contributors. Don't come here arguing politics parker, and especially don't try to argue ethics in politics, as you're on the wrong side of both issues. |

Now why would you think the California energy crisis was the winter of 2000/2001, when the rolling blackouts didn't occur until the summer of 2001? Besides if Clinton is responsible for Waco which happened just weeks after taking office, then by your same rules Bush is responsible for the power problems over the winter as well. (BTW, the energy crisis in the winter of 2000 was in Washington state, as it was colder than normal and there was a natural gas shortage) But why then didn't Bush want to investigate Enron in the summer of 2001? Gov. Davis was telling people that was what was happening. Bush failed to respond, instead blaming the whole thing on California's energy laws. Ignored the whole thing until 2002 when Enron's troubles hit the stock markets. And you want to take credit for this? You know, I find it awfully bizarre how Republicans always like to take credit for things, but fail to take responsibility when they screw up. Frankly I've always found such behavior to be flat out disgusting. <I>As for Boeing, my understanding is that they give money to both political parties, not just one. </I> But it was Republicans who took the bribe and authored the legislation to pay them back. Crony-Capitalism. BTW, I must congratulate your President for finally doing the right thing today and visiting Iraq. Unfortunately I hear that there is a shortage of cut stem flowers in Iraq or the people would have greated their liberator like the Kosovars did Clinton back in '99. |
