Japanese government officials say they hope to develop a new operating system so Asian economies will be less dependent on Microsoft's Windows. Windows has been under increasing attack from worms and viruses developed by pranksters. The attacks have hobbled major networks. | ||

It has always amazed me how much the Japanese/Asain market has protected themselves from out companies and we (US) has gone alone with it. The for the most part the Japanese market still remain closed to us, why is our trade surplus so out of control? (yes we consume alot, but that is only part of the story).
Once again our companies get screwed and our politicians do nothing. |

If I were in their shoes I would do the same thing.
Turn the tables. Would you feel secure if a Chinese company developed the OS used extensively by the US government and most major US corporations? It's not worth the risk. |

| Pretty interesting that S. Korea, China, and Japan are willing to get together on this. These guys don't usually get along. Maybe someone should write an article "Why Do Asians Hate Microsoft?" |

1. Does this mean everyone in the US government is not allowed to eat Asian food (if prepared a non American ) since this may pose a possible issue (security breach)?
2. I suppose that high ranking officials are not allowed to drive foreign cars since we are not sure about the security issues? 3. Does the means that high ranking officials are not allowed to use foreign made electronics ( cell phone, TV, DVD...) since potential they could be tools of the enemy? #12 I am just taking your argument one step further :) |
