When Microsoft Corp. unveiled a multimillion-dollar makeover of its MSN Internet-browsing software last fall, the company had 9 million subscribers and a $300 million marketing campaign designed to draw hordes of new customers. It didn't quite work out the way Microsoft envisioned. Today, the software company has 400,000 fewer MSN subscribers than it did a year ago. | ||

I can give you four reasons why MSN lost customers:
1. MSN wants their customers to use web-based email. If you use a good pop3 email program, this stinks. 2. MSN has virtually dropped all support for its newsgroups. Many computer users love the newsgroups, and don't want to go to a web-based solution, but rather use their own NG client. 3. MSN goes down way too often. More than most other ISP's do anyway. 4. MSN broadband is still not available in cities as large as Fort Worth, Texas, and it is close to Dallas Texas which has millions of citizens. |

#6, your 4th answer is why I and many won't use MSN. I will not go back to dial-up. And as far as outages go, I guess you never lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico? Crap, it was all I could do to get online using dial-up and MSN. It was down almost every other weekend.
And the MSN browser is the pits. I prefer Internet Explorer. The only ones I have heard from that like the new browser are either newbies, or limp wrists. To gay for me. |
