| Looks like the thank you that we got (the beta testers) for Windows 2003 beta, and then the 180 day eval CD was recieved in the mail. Hope they remember us and keep to there word this time, and actual give us some real code. |

What word is that? Microsoft never at any time promised RTM bits to Office 11 beta testers. BTW, I think you meant "their" not "there." Also, you probably meant "actually" not "actual." |

I got some code, but had to get it from the local MS reps. MS of be needs to remember to compensate beta testers, plain and simple. All the free work show be rewarded. Without a lot begging of calling in of favors. This post was edited by johnnyq on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at 19:57. |

| johnny: If you expect to be compensated by getting a free copy of the final, then I suggest you quit beta testing. Microsoft NEVER said they would give ANYTHING away for free, in fact they say not to expect anything, it is merely out of tradition that we get free copies of the final (which has never happened in the Windows Server realm, only trial versions). |

True they never committed to a free copy, that stuff ended back after the nt40 release time.
I would agree that ms should consider sending 1 free copy to those individuals that actually filed 3 or more bug reports. This weeds out the me-me folks that actually dont do much, and rewards those that submit usefull bug reports and it cost them next to nothing, since I'd venture to guess 1/2 of the folks are existing msdn or corporate\partner customers. |

Every official beta test that I have done for MS, since 1988, they have given a full copy of the software at the end. except Windows 2003. They did it with Windows 2000, i received both pro and Server, with cals, (10 user), and Advance server with 10 cals, Exchange 2000 with 10 cals, Exchange v5.5 with 10 cals, ISA, 5 licenses for XP pro, 0 for Win 2003.
Maybe they were pissed that I returned the Windows ME as un-usable. They have always treated the beta tester nice, unlike other companies that charged for access to beta, then gave limited discounts. To bad they killed the Beta Shirts, I had a collection going. |
