The Advanced Networking Pack for Windows XP is a set of platform technologies designed to run on Windows XP SP1 to enable the use and deployment of distributed, peer-to-peer applications based on Internet standards. The update includes a new version of the IPv6 stack, including support for NAT traversal for IPv6 applications. An IPv6 firewall is included to protect the end-user's machine from unsolicited IPv6 traffic, while the peer-to-peer platform makes it simple to write distributed solutions. | ||

Excellent. I'll just plug this right into my new IPv6 network and... oh wait. There is no such thing.
Who are all these people with IPv6 networks that need all these updates and such? Why don't I have IPv6? |

Don't know daz I have a ipv6 network set up and running.
Nice thing about it is that a Link Local address is set up automatically. You do have to mannually set up a router (any computer can be set up as one with the IPv6 stack) to set up a site local address, but then all computers connected to that router are automatically assigned a Site local address. that only leaves the global address. Which can be a IPv4 address that has its address translated to a IPv6 address. But for the most part it is much easier to set up a IPv6 network than a ipv4 as all address are effectively assigned. Also the global address can be set up to change on a random basis so that anomious activity can be still maintained somewhat. But for the most part this is the start of the transition to IPv6 and expect it to take 5 to 10 years for it to occur. El |
