A tech-savvy friend of mine casually said something the other day that's been bothering me ever since. "Microsoft is in trouble," he said. It's not unusual to hear people in Silicon Valley flip Microsoft the bird, saying stuff like "Microsoft is evil incarnate" or "Microsoft must be neutered." But "Microsoft is in trouble"? That's a new one. How could my buddy possibly believe that Microsoft—Microsoft!—is in trouble? | ||

Alas, another "Death of Microsoft" article. This is like the 10th annual edition, right?
A budy of mine had a Wired poster that showed all their covers to date and you'd laugh to see how many of them were like "Microsoft is gone" or "Death of Microsoft" or "Is Microsoft dead?" "Has Bill Gates lost his touch?". It's more of that "If we wish hard enough, it'll come true" 'journalism' |

Who are the companies/efforts who WERE all but guaranteed to win against Microsoft? Help me name them...

Maybe that they are losing money for a long time now..
but then again with this logic he should have excluded Netscape and Real as well. |

| macrosslover - I honestly forgot about them. I guess that says alot about how much mindshare they've lost in recent years. |
