It seems that spammers can get around even the most sophisticated e-mail filters. How is it that companies like Microsoft, with its huge resources, still can't keep junk mail out of inboxes? For one thing, spammers are the ones on the attack, and constantly search out and exploit weaknesses in e-mail systems. Filtering companies are often on the defensive, trying to ward off the advances. | ||

Today I began receiving spam messages with subjects like " you blocked my MSN account" or "you blocked my IM". I never saw them before. This post was edited by Fritzly on Monday, June 16, 2003 at 10:58. |

Hyperbole.
I never understand these claims of "247 spam messages" per morning. You must have done something terribly wrong to be receiving so much. It's not, of course, nice to make people follow "rules" in which to reduce spam, but still, c'mon! Drop that account, and move on. |

shenan, aparently you don't use your Hotmail account for your Passport-related stuff. If I (someone who can get upwards of 100+ a day spam) were to follow your advice of junk-n-run I'd have to log in to all my beta accounts for MS software, the MCP site, and god-knows-what-else that is intimately linked to that Hotmail account and change every pointer to a new -- you guessed it -- Hotmail account. See some people have them for very specific reasons.

| Cthulu - yes, I do. I actually have 2 hotmail accounts though - one is a "subscriber" account, which basically just collects/sucks up all the spam (and NEVER anywhere NEAR even 20 spams per week). The other one, I simply don't give out to anybody. |
