Microsoft To Take Spinoff to Court? | |

The Redmond software vendor says that startup Esiod's home networking product is too much like its 'Sidebar' and 'Fjord' products. A Monroe, Wash.-based home-networking software company run by two former Microsoft employees has run afoul of Microsoft. According to a cease-and-desist letter sent Friday to the startup, Esiod Systems, Microsoft believes the two employees violated their Microsoft non-compete agreements in designing and developing their product called "Schnazzle." | ||

No offense to Esiod Systems and "Schnazzle" - but it is damn ugly! (Especially the media player).
As for this story, I doubt they can prove the idea was stolen, it's been used for years, take a look at many *nix window managers for instance, but they may have a case if these two employees infringed on "Fjord's" trade secrets. |

I don't like non-competes.
I definately see no case here, I don't care how similar looking it is it is basically simple functionality. I could create most of it just by setting my ActiveDesktop a portal like yahoo. |
