After a long downtime, the server is finally back up. Thanks to Bob for his hard work and long hours on the phone with the wire provider trying to get them to fulfill their end of the contract. I don't know any of the details as of yet, but I do know that the physical Internet connection to our server was down and it took them this long to get it back up, let's hope it stays up. I'm sure Bob will fill us in with the details, but until then, thank you for bearing with us through this rough time and we're sorry for any inconvenience. | ||

| It ended up being a router problem...Cisco 2600. We had to reconfigure everything. Line is in tip top shape after many thorough checks. |

| Wow, good to hear you're back up. So much for the good uptime numbers this year. What's it gonna be this year, 1.0009. Oh well, happy to see you back. Keep up the good work, and give us the skinny on what happened and how you fixed it(helps us all learn). |

For what it is worth, our ISP provider is Bell South. They have partnered with Quest. We have several T-1s coming in from both ISPs to two routers that are using BGP with failover.
We couldn't afford to be down the several times a year that Bell South took us down for maintenance even though that was always between midnight and 6:00AM and most often for only a few minutes. Bell South coordinates with Quest to ensure that they don't pull maintenance at the same time they do. So far, it has worked out great - 100% uptime this year! By the way, Bell South uses UUNET's (World.com) backbone and Quest has their own backbone so that even if one of the two backbones goes down we will still be "on the air." |
