With the recent launch of Windows XP Media Center Edition and Windows Media 9 Series, Microsoft is pleased with the role it has played in accelerating consumer adoption of premium digital media and entertainment experiences on the PC and helping extend it to a wide range of consumer devices. Prior to this week's Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC) 2003, PressPass spoke with Dennis Flanagan, product unit manager with Microsoft's Windows eHome Division, who shared his thoughts on the ongoing evolution of networked entertainment for the home, the opportunities Microsoft is providing the PC hardware and consumer electronics community, and the evolution of the PC. | ||

The average American housewife is not going to let someone bring a minitower into the living room," said Mark Vena, a director at Dell Computer said in an interview last week, explaining why Dell has yet to release a media center PC.
Hmmmmm... Microsoft's got to get on Dell's case and keep them quiet, because we all know that the intergrated e-home is happening all over the place, right Microsoft? From a good friend who is a Microsoft Manager in letter discussing the issue a few months back. "I don't have a Media PC, my wife already complains about the X-box I have in the family room, but she does like the Tivo and the WebTV service. Even I'm against trying to hook everything into a windows box- Its just too complicated right now, and I don't have time to learn about all the drivers I am going to need for every device I want to attach. Give it 2 years and we will have it down when everything is wireless. But until then my wife doesn't want to have to call me at work to troubleshoot turning the TV on. She said that having a Media PC in the family room, would be like me having to call her to turn on the toaster to make toast--somethings just don't don't go together." |

| NEWS site yes, Newspaper no. I still read my newspaper and like the feel of paper(real paper not electronic paper). |
