PeopleSoft CEO Blasts Microsoft 'Dependency' | |

With friends like PeopleSoft, Microsoft might wonder why it needs enemies. As expected, PeopleSoft Tuesday announced full-fledged support for Linux and the company's CEO unambiguously characterized that move as a way to break Microsoft's grip on the industry. "Unix broke the dependency on IBM mainframes, and Linux will break the dependency on Microsoft," PeopleSoft CEO Craig Conway told a thousand or so customers and analysts at the company's Leadership Conference here. | ||

This, which appears at the end of the article, sums up where PeopleSoft is coming from:
"Given PeopleSoft's recent financial woes, some observers characterized the Linux move as a Hail Mary pass, and a late one at that. "Look, you could say they're at a stage when they're trying anything," said one of PeopleSoft's large partners, who requested anonymity." Oops! Looks like a touch back for Pimplesoft! LOL |

Yeah, I know. Microsoft is so evil, they control the entire market, there's no room for competition.
I mean, I think he should go with Linux too. That'll show 'em.... but wait, I think MS controlled 100% of the market? So where does Linux fit in? And if Linux is growing so fast and taking over the market, then how can MS hold 100% of the.... CANNOT.... COMPUTE.... *BOOM* |

Financial accounting tools...
Peoplesoft is primarily into large companies who can afford bills for software and services with 7-8 figures on them. Which means they had some high growth, but now they've hit a plateau as there isn't any more new customers. Especially since they compete with Oracle, Seibel, Lawson, etc. |
