"Opera is adware, not spyware. The webmasters of some spyware sites appear to have changed the definition of spyware to include adware, but adware does not necessarily spy on the user. The Opera browser does not monitor your surfing habits, and it does not gather information about you or your system. You can voluntarily use Opera's ad preferences to receive targeted ads, but you have to enter this information manually in Opera's Preferences. This information cannot be traced back to you." | ||

Well, AdWare does track your usage to some extent. They can at least know when you browse, and perhaps even to which sites you browse.
But from what I've seen, it seems that the ads are seperate from whatever content you have in the browser window(s), so there's no correlation. If there's no correlation, then I agree, it's not necessarily spyware. But if they do track the sites you visit and provide that to advertisers, then it's spyware. |

| Here's what I think is funny: When MS does something like this, everyone freaks out and starts calling all sorts of bad names; but if anyone else (Opera, for instance) does it, it's a misunderstanding and it's ok.... |
