| After installing the 817287, my PC became slow in accessimg all programs, even My Computer showed the famous Windows flashlight. After removal all returned to normal. I have Win XP PRO, 120 GBHD, 1 GBRAM, and 2.4 GHz P4 , and never experienced this type of problem. |

| There are multiple reports of problems with it in news:microsoft.public.windowsxp.general, so it seems one to avoid for now. Any fix with the word "kernel" in it gives me pause anyway. |
