The European Commission is currently deciding what it can do to stop Microsoft using its dominant position on the desktop to carve itself a similar monopoly in the server market. But at the same time, the European Commission's IT purchasing policies are supporting that very process. The Commission uses Windows clients, is upgrading these to Windows XP, and has just invested in a large number of Windows 2000 Advanced Server application servers to support them. | ||

| #4 I'm yet to find a computer expert that doesn't hold very strong if not at times quite biased opinions - Note that I didn't say anything about his opinion but rather his ignorant opinion. Then again I don't consider someone who describes something as 'crappy' or 'sucks' etc. as being an expert in any field. |

Those two word cut to the heart of the matter and convey a feeling of not being happy with something, especially in the tech sector. But I am guessing that you are just talking to increase your # of posts. |

A mature, informed and well educated person, let's call them an expert shall we for this example, will not be going around saying "M$ sucks" or "Linux is crappy". Maybe you consider these types of people as experts but I do not. And try to learn to disagree with someone by putting your own opinions forward as an alternative rather than insulting them. That's yet another sign of mainly immaturity. "But I am guessing that you are just talking to increase your # of posts." I'm not sure whether to take this as sarcasm or not. If you're being serious then you are one sad individual. No I'm not trying to increase my number of posts, I have no desire to try and overtake your number of posts so then I can then brag about it. So when Unix and Oracle dominated, they were evidence that Windows sucks, but now that Windows dominates, the results are flawed? Great logic. B.) - Clustered results don't mean jack because they're not representative of real-world scenarios But it doesn't matter because Windows owns both clustered and non-clustered results. So it's evident that whatever works best for your business will work better on Windows. C.) - Linux companies don't have enough cash to submit a result Ah, but you are wrong. You'll note that a Linux submission was made in the clustered results. The problem is not cash, but the fact that Linux cannot compete in this arena because it has a flawed design and will not succeed in the enterprise as a big-iron OS unless the kernel is significantly redesigned which will probably never happen. Also note that the Linux submissions cost significantly more than their Windows counterparts, and produce a small fraction of the output. Linux: Pay more, get less |

#12 I never said that ComputerExpert wasn't intelligent or uneducated, you assumed that. I simply said that it was ironic that someone named 'ComputerExpert' was going around calling things crappy and leaving it at that. It's usually reffered to as flaming and if we swapped Linux with Windows in his statement we'd have around 30 posts on how inferior Linux is and how dare someone say such a thing. |

flopzoid - Have to agree. I have a BSCS, but also the MCSE NT4. As far as DNS and TCP/IP go, I actually learned a great deal more about that from my studying for the MCSE than I ever had from other sources.
In general I think the only people who legitimately have a right to complain about the content of the MCSE program are those who have actually taken the time to study for it and passed the tests. Otherwise they're mostly talking from a point of ignorance. It cost me about $100 for books, and $600 for the tests... I took 2 tests over the course of a year and then went back in and took the remaining 4 tests in one day just to get it over with. |
