Well, I sure am but before I get started on my views, I like to point a few things out. I'm not in high school or college. I'm 35 years old and have been in the computer business along time. My experience goes all the way back to the hey days of punch cards. I still have a few cards over at my folk's house. I think one of the 'programs' prints out a snoopy. I've work for several large corporations including IBM and GTE. I'm bringing this up not to brag but to point out that I know a thing or two about computers. These dealers reportedly include Buy.com, Fry's Electronics, MicroCenter, Elite Computer in Cupertino, Macadam in San Francisco, and a number of independent dealers and service centers. Additionally, Dell and Target, which sell Apple's iPod, are also said to have been deauthorized. Many of these dealers submitted contract changes and modifications to Apple, which the company rejected. |

n4cer - MicroCenter, eh? They're one of the largest Mac dealers in the area. If CompUSA also is deauthorized that pretty much spells the end of Mac sales in the Twin Cities.

Speaking of a story that's not newsworthy... Are we tired of all the MS bashing? Obviously not as people keep on doing it. Are we tired of all the Linux/OSS bashing? Obviously not as people keep on doing it. Both groups of people will continue unless both decide to stop at the same time - something unlikely to occur.
As for his examples... "1. Microsoft sucks or M$ sucks ? ok, and?" These types of comments usually come for the immature members of the 'bashing groups'. Those comments are made about anything in general by simply replacing Microsoft with whever else they believe 'sucks'. "2. Microsoft is bundling or buying everything to stifle competition." They were found guilty in a court of law for it... it's not exactly something that was just made up for the hell of it. Now there are those who believe that the law they were found guilty of isn't a 'real' law or something along those lines and choose to dismiss it. That's fine, it doesn't make what they say correct, but they're free to believe that if they really want. I don't think that 'j-walking' is a 'real' law either and I don't think I should have to pay parking fines because the 'real' laws are the ones like murder etc, but I'll still have to pay the fine or risk further penalties. "3. And the opposite, Microsoft isn't adding enough features to IE, Windows, etc." This is yet another catch-22. If they add features then it is 'unfair' to the competition due to point 2 above. "4. Windows has so many security leaks, it's not funny. I bet Linux has few too but of course, not as many." This point has been argued to death including twisting of terms to fit people's own objectives. (e.g. Linux is just the kernel so it has far less security holes than Windows which is the kernel + applications that come with it. On the other side of this is counting any security holes in applications like sendmail, apache etc for Linux but not including the IIS and Exchange/Outlook numbers for Windows). The point is that both have security holes and both need to have a competent admin to look after (if they are being used as a server that is). "5. Windows crashes all the time." Whilst there is no dening that 9X did, the same cannot be said for Windows 2000 and XP. I have had Win 2000 and XP both crash on me so it's not as if they are crash-proof but the number of crashes that I've experienced can be counted on one hand. On the Linux side of things I've also experienced a kernel panic but once again the number can be counted on one hand. Point is everyone has different experiences and any OS can be made to crash if you try hard enough but they should be as resistant to crashing as possible. |

I still remember those Satellite Dealer Conferences I used to attend, where he and his lieutenants stood there and would say 'nothing is going to change - honest'.
