Software, music and movies that employ copy-protection schemes must be prominently labeled with consumer warnings, according to a bill introduced in Congress this week. The measure, sponsored by Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., would grant the Federal Trade Commission the power to establish labeling methods for technology that limits the ability of consumers to freely copy, distribute or back up digital content. | ||

#1 Actually, I think you misunderstood the article, or at least the blurb..
This senator wants that media which includes copy protection to be specially labelled so that consumers can recognize them and avoid them since they violate their ability to copy media under the Copyright Act |

| Yup, this is a labeling law. A good move for consumers, because it gives them the right to decide by what license they will accept goods. |

I made the same mistake when I first read it over on ZDNet.
We're so used to Senetors siding with the money that it caught me off guard :) Glad to see that SOMEONE in the government cares a bit about the consumer. TL |
