Despite getting a judge in its landmark case against Microsoft to grant a “must carry” order that requires the Redmond company to include Java in the standard Windows XP package, Sun’s fortunes have begun to falter. First, the Court of Appeals issued a stay of the “must carry” order until it could determine if the lower court had the right to issue it, based on the fact that the judge in the Microsoft-DOJ settlement specifically ruled out the “must carry” option in her final opinion. Now one of Sun’s own engineers has gone public with concerns about Sun’s Java platform and the future of its Solaris operating system. This engineer’s views reflect the wider concern of many CIOs who’ve bet their careers on Java over the last few years. Let’s look at some of the issues raised during Sun’s internal debates over the future of Java. | ||

I don't know about SUN and their product uses... but MS used FreeBSD in hotmail when the bought it... did you expect them to take hotmail down and rebuild the entire system before bringing it back up just so they can say "We never use FreeBSD"
Really get a clue. They used it until they could integrate their OS etc into the process with minimal interruption to the users. I personally think MS showed character by openly using FreeBSD until they were ready to move to Windows... they cared more about keeping it up than saving face. I still don't know if they removed all of the FreeBSD systems and use only windows but I think that you are like everyone else... you find 1 example of something to aid in your comments against MS and you continue to use the comment even after the truth is revealed. |
