From the overview "There is no benefit to installing SP1a if you are already running Windows XP SP1. Microsoft does not recommend that you install SP1a if you are already running SP1."

Wait... Let me get this straight... XP started out by not having a JVM, then Sun sued them, so Microsoft put it back in, then Sun sued them again so now Microsoft is taking it out?

Choice.....other that don't install SP1a (thanks MS for being honest and telling us in the KB article what SP1a does), what choice do we have? Will SP2 remove MS JVM anyway, without our choice or explicit permission?

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see that SP1a does anything. The KB article simply states:
JVM is not included The registry, Control Panel and Release Notes are updated to show "SP1A" If that's it, what is the point??? It doesn't appear to do anything, so why was it even released? I'm confused. |
