Microsoft could get tougher sanctions than in US | |

The European Commission could impose additional, tougher sanctions on Microsoft in the ongoing probe into the software maker’s alleged anti-competitive practices, according remarks from the European Competition Commissioner at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. "The solution must be beneficial to consumers and competition and, we hope, complementary to the remedies in the US,” said Mario Monti. He also added that no responses to the Microsoft’s alleged anti-competitive behaviour could be ruled out. "All our options are open," added the commissioner. | ||

why should they be punished here or there? they haven't done anything wrong.
too bad that building inferior business plans isn't against the law, so MSFT's competitors could face these governments too.- |

That last comment hardly merits a response. However, there is one thing that is relevant - MS makes more money from sales outside America than it does from within. Primarily, that is Europe.

| You have a breakdown of those numbers, bag? I imagine Europe isn't too big compared to South America, Mexico, Canada, China, Japan, South Korea, etc. Yeah, it's part of the market, but it's not all that. |
