Tech-savvy singles with chic apartments should buy the Media Center PC immediately. Hewlett-Packard's new computer is a space-saving, entertainment-gobbling wonder that lets you watch TV via a 17-inch flat-screen computer monitor, record television to a hard disk, burn DVDs, make a slide show out of your digital pictures, and play music with a touch of your remote control. But college roommates hoping to save some space, families that want a new primary PC with lots of punch, or siblings trying to get their parents to buy a computer they can all use may want to skip it. | ||

Ouch, stu--you just suckered yourself into making a worse mistake. Would you say:
"and Larry, Steve, and Bill, want to bone you" OR "and Larry, Steve, and Bill want to bone you" kevinu is much more correct. "can all use" splits the verb, that's the worst mistake. The sentence maintains no parallelism but that can't be said to be an error this day in age. Although it would be more appropriate and readable if it was "families wanting a new PC..." If you wanted to put a comma after use, it would have to be because you were saying "trying to get their parents to buy a computer they can all use" is an interjection, a paranthetical--one that is secondary to the meaning of the sentence--which it's not--AND also would require placing a comma AFTER siblings. Without a comma after siblings, a comma after use is MORE wrong than anything else in the sentence as it is now. And such a choice would imply that all of the participles should be flagged with commas--if you did that, you've got one hell of a sentence... I'll consider one when I can build it myself, exactly the way I want it, at a lot lower cost.
This would mean Microsoft releasing an update to Windows XP, but I don't see that happening anytime soon... TL |
