Once again reality strikes an ugly blow at the fantasy the ABMers dream up. :)

Well, this just proves that there's competition and that MS is not the all-powerful consumer-abusing monopoly that the critics say.
MS is still sensitive to competitors and to consumer demands.

OpenOffice is nice for free, but it can't compete with Microsoft Office.

Doggin - I can buy a pad of paper and a pencil for $1.39.
That provides more functionality than Openoffice.

If this is true then you are even dumber than i thought you were.

"Well, this just proves that there's competition and that MS is not the all-powerful consumer-abusing monopoly that the critics say."
I thought it proved that if accounting rules changes cause you to actually show what produces profit and what produces losses, people can actually understand that they are getting raped by their monopoly products. Can you explain how this proves there is competition (soda says OOo is less useful than a pencil) or that MS doesn't have a monopoly or that they couldn't charge a cheaper price?
soda, you still insist on these baloney conspiracy fantasies? Guess what? This is my fantasy--that Wall Street and consuemrs get pissed off and educated about MS which means MS has to respond. This is my fantasy. It's you who has the fantasies about getting raped by Steve Ballmer, buddy, not us "ABMers" whatever the fsk that means.

tgnb - What can you do with OpenOffice I can't do with a pencil and paper?
jerky boy - Why you asking me? I didn't make that statement. My statement related to price cuts, and how I've always said MS would react to low sales by changing prices.

All I'm saying, kevin, if you can get your head around this, MS is under pressure because its successful products (which ARE monopolies) have margins 15 to 20% higher than anything in the industry. Did I say that means the product should only sell for $50? No, I said they are under pressure and I'm enjoying it.
But why am I bothering to talk to you, you clearly don't read. I didn't tell soda to go get raped by Ballmer, I said he dreams of getting raped by Ballmer.

Office is a monopoly? Since when?
Guess what, I go to Taco Bell and get a steak soft taco for $1. The profit margin is 15%. Or I can go to Outback and get a steak for $20. The profit margin is 30%. Using jerk's logic, that makes Outback a monopoly. The market forces of 1) demand, 2) product differentiation, 3) product positioning never come into effect.
jerk, you might invest a few bucks in a local econ class.

you might want to take a logic class, mooresa, but only after taking a reading class. When did I say that the profit margin was what determined a monopoly? Why can't you and kevin focus on the points I am making rather than making up crap that a brainless turd can see through? Are the two of you this thick-headed and dull-witted when it comes to everything or jsut Microsoft?

And guess what, dumbass, the profit margin on a Bell taco is probably higher than on a steak at the Outback (is Outback really your model for a high-class steak meal? Jeez, I hate America).

Hmmm, lets determine who the bigger loser is... based on your own criteria.
You (bas) have posted 240 comments or 5.2 comments per day since becoming a member.
Sodablue has posted 3000 comments or 5.6 comments per day since becoming a member.
Yeah, you have such a commanding lead. Sodablue is such a loser.
BTW, I elect myself ahead of sodablue for the sheer fact that I did this wasted time doing analysis for someone that doesn't value logic at all.
