Thanks Steve. "Motorola and FedEx subsidiary FedEx Corporate Services announced Wednesday that they are working on a device for couriers that gives them wireless access to the FedEx network for package tracking. The PowerPad is in testing but will be widely available in early 2003, the companies said. It uses Microsoft's operating system for handheld devices, Pocket PC 2002. The devices are exclusively for FedEx and are designed to make it easier for couriers to upload information to the network. Couriers currently have to return to a FedEx van to upload package information. " | ||

With all the new devices with low pricess that are coming out there, PPC will dominate the PDA arena. Here's proof, I have two (HP3950, T-Mobile PPC PE), and my Dell is on its way. =)

ComputerExpert, to put that $20M into perspective - this past quarter, Microsoft's CE/Mobility group lost $33M on $17M in revenue last quarter.
In other words, the groups's financial results could be quite impressive over the next few quarters. And the FedEx deal is HUGE for them. If I'm reading the financial docs correctly (and I admit, that I might not be)... Palm had revenue of $172M last quarter and lost $258M. |

mooresa56 - Microsoft CE/mobile group only get's license fees for the software. That's probably about $25 per unit. So this deal may pull in about $1 mil in revenue to MS, although I suspect it'll cost them half that to work with FedEx to customize the solution.

| Agreed sodablue. I wasn't clear on that point. Pulling in 10% of revenues with a single sale, is the "HUGE" deal that I was referring to. |
