Neil Holloway, MD of Microsoft UK, took the opportunity his slot at Beyond the Backlash, today's Internet policy wonkfest to show off his brand new Tablet PC. In an attempt to wow the delegates, drawn from the ranks of the media, business,government policy advisors and - natch - thinktank types - Holloway showed them pen input, annotated emails and handwriting recognition from Word. | ||

Wonks are people who are really into the details and minutiae of a particular topic, usually in reference to political policies, like education or the environment. Gotten to be a pretty popular term in US political circles in the past 8 years or so. And usually the people using the term are wannabe elitists who think they're some kind of insiders. Like the jerk-offs at the "West Wing" television show using the term POTUS in the commercial for their premiere thinking that they were oh-so-hip and that nobody'd ever heard it but them. Okay, rant done. ;)
Definitely not a Register-coined term, though. |
